Want to Know How You Can Help Raise Amyloidosis Awareness?

Hey, do you like helping people–especially people who have amyloidosis?

Also, do you live in or near New Jersey? Or will you be in the area later in September? If so, are you looking for a fun way to spend a few hours? One more: Would you be interested in having fun AND helping people at the same time?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, I tip my virtual hat to you!

And I’d also encourage you to check out the Hugh Claus Memorial Run on September 25th to benefit the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation.

The event is a combination 5K Walk/Run and one-mile family fun run being held at South Seaside Park in Berkeley Township, New Jersey. Early registration is $25 for the 5K Run and $15 for the 5K Walk, and same day registration is $35 and $25 respectively. The fun run is a flat $15 registration. All the proceeds will go to raising awareness of amyloidosis and funding research towards a cure.

The Foundation is named for Chip Miller, a classic Corvette collector and enthusiast who founded an automotive event production company. Chip was diagnosed with amyloidosis in 2003, and sadly passed away from disease complications the next year. His family created the Foundation to help raise awareness of amyloidosis and encourage early detection—they believe if Chip’s symptoms had been recognized earlier, it might have made a difference.

The Foundation runs a busy calendar of fun events, ranging from car shows to golf tournaments to surfing competitions. If you want to be a part of the upcoming run—not to mention the after party at a local crab house!—hurry to the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation’s website. Here’s hoping for a great run that will make an even bigger difference for the amyloidosis community!
