Aplastic Anemia: This Fabulous Fairy Princess Will Warm Your Heart

I feel like shouting from the rooftop after reading about this 7-year-old girl named Yasmin.

After a long hospitalization that spanned several months, she finally got released because her body is responding well to the bone marrow transplant she had for aplastic anemia.

Diagnosed in 2015, Yasmin was incredibly lucky to be matched up with a bone marrow donor, which will likely save her life. When I saw the news clip, it brought me to tears—not just because of HER courage, but also because of the incredible sacrifices her parents must have made, too.

You can easily tell that this little girl is loved.

Someone—her Auntie? or maybe her parents? a grandmother, perhaps?—gave her a spectacular, green fairy tale princess gown, complete with a crown! She was all bedazzled and looked so happy! Surrounded by family and friends for a welcome home celebration, it’s no wonder this family is still together.

This is what the world needs more of. Compassion. Strength. Fortitude. Love.

Yasmin is so full of life and spirit, which hopefully will help to inspire other children, parents, and loved ones to rally behind other people in the aplastic anemia community.

As long as she lives, Yasmin will have regular visits with her doctors so that they can monitor her progress. But the great news is, if she continues on the great recovery path that she’s on, she may only have to have ANNUAL doctor visits! How great is that?!
