Trek for Tourette Awareness Walk on March 26 in Canada

Want to put your money where your feet are to benefit Tourette syndrome awareness? Well, if you’re in Canada on Sunday, March 26th, the West Grey-Ayton Chapter of Tourette Canada will help you Trek for Tourette!

The fun walk will begin and end at Normanby Community School. If you are local, be sure to come and support the organization’s fundraising efforts. If you will not be in town you can still support the cause by visiting the Tourette Canada website.Throughout the country, others will be walking on March 26th to remove the stigma around Tourette syndrome.

The organizers of the West Grey-Ayton event, Corey and Angie Tone, are excited about participating in the walk for the second time. This event is extremely important to them because their son Wyland was diagnosed in 2014 with the syndrome. Aside from receiving generous donations, they feel that this event will help support families through programs, research, and advocacy. Corey reflected on last year’s successful walk and stated that he was overwhelmed with the amount of support they received. Family, friends, and neighbors took the time to walk and raise awareness for this important cause.

Last year they raised $5,400 with only 80 participants. For the 2017, their goal is to raise $6,000 just in their community. Meanwhile, the national goal for Trek for Tourette is $130,000.
