Cure Sickle Cell Hosted a Wine and Cheese Event for Valentine’s Day

Cure Sickle Cell is a nonprofit organization. One of their goals is to raise money for research. Sickle cell is an inherited disease. Moreover, the disease prevents red blood cells from delivering enough oxygen in the body. The disease is mostly treated with blood and bone marrow transfusions.

In fact, 11 years ago, Dee and Larry started the organization to honor their son Jaden. They know firsthand the struggles associated with having the disease. Additionally, the organization runs programs to support those living with the disease. They understand how much of an affect sickle cell anemia has on patients and their families. So the organization was created to support them and be there for them.

The Valentine’s Day fundraiser was held Sunday, February 12th. Additionally, tickets were only $25 to attend the event. Wine, cheese, and other foods were served to guests. Also, some amazing free entertainment was provided at this good cause. Dee thinks that people with sickle cell feel forgotten so this event shows them that the organization is there to support them. The event is one of the many ways Cure Sickle Cell gives back to the community. Events like these bring awareness to the disease.
