Describing your acromegaly isn’t easy. I’m sure you’ve been met with enough blank stares or uncomfortable jokes about “giants” to last a lifetime.

Fact is, sometimes people will not get the picture about life with a rare disease until you actually give them a picture. A real one.

The pharmaceutical company Novartis, which makes Signifor LAR for the treatment of acromegaly (and apparently has a Pinterest page?) released an infographic called “A Day in My Shoes.”

It’s less an infographic, though, and more a word cloud. Made up of words like “optimistic,” “awareness,” uncertainty,” “disfigured,” and “relief,” it effectively captures the ups, downs, dreams, and desires of everyone with acromegaly.

It’s simple, sure, but sometimes simple is best—especially when it comes to conveying the heart behind a medical condition.
