Bravery Books and the story of Sir Roland’s BIG Adventure came about from the loss of my father to cancer on New Year’s Day in 2009.  From the loss of my father, I created my own nonprofit organization called Mascots for a Cure.  From my experience with MFAC and organizing 96 children’s hospital visits, I created Bravery Books and the idea behind Sir Roland’s BIG Adventure.

This unique, inspiring, and hopeful children’s book features 13 real children who have battled cancer. They each created their own cancer fighting name, spirit animal, and superhero power. Together, along with Sir Roland, they embark on an epic medieval journey through multiple fantasy lands to defeat cancer in the form of a dragon – Recnac (cancer backwards) the Terrible Dragon. At the end of the story, they all get Knighted as Brave Knights by the King.
