Gigi Hadid Supports Lyme Charity on MasterChef

Are you a caregiver or support person of someone with a rare disease?

If so, then you know the profound effect chronic illness like Lyme can have on the patient and their family members.

Now imagine that not only one person in your family, but every person in your family has the disease.

That’s exactly what is going on with fashion model Gigi Hadid.

As you all probably know, her mother and Real Housewife Yolanda Foster has been battling chronic Lyme disease for years. Yolanda has been a welcomed advocate for Lyme awareness, finding effective treatment and hopefully finding a cure for this disease.

But what you might not know is that Yolanda’s daughter Bella and son Anwar are also both currently battling Lyme. That means Gigi’s entire immediate family, with the exception of her soon-to-be ex-stepfather, has chronic Lyme while the 20-year-old has to watch, powerless to make them feel better.

But alas, she is not powerless and she found her voice on MasterChef a few days ago, clearly demonstrating the emotional strain the disease has taken on her and her family.

The good news? This girl WON the competition, with $25,000 going the Global Lyme Alliance.

As a Lymie, I thank Gigi for using her position to voice the effects Lyme has on support persons and family members of those suffering from this neglected disease.
