This is What Happens When Parents Are Clueless

Okay, call me crazy. Call me SNARKY, but this is ridiculous! Here’s another perfect example of:

Not having all of the facts!

OR

Stupidity that almost gets an innocent young woman killed!

A young British woman named Alicia was recently diagnosed with Wilson’s disease, a rare disease that can lead to death if not treated early. After reading about her experiences in pubs when bouncers and bartenders suspected she was drunk and refused to serve her, I was like, yeah, well, it’s sad that people don’t get it, but it’s no surprise! Duh, people who appear drunk in bars WILL get kicked out.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t expect my server to be up on all of the latest rare diseases. You with me?!

But what AB-SO-LUTE-LY makes me wanna scream my lungs out is WHERE WERE ALICIA’S FAMILY, FRIENDS, and CLASSMATES when she needed them early on?!

I mean, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING when they observed her walking in a jagged line and acting strangely?! So, you see this in someone you care about and then you just sit back calmly and stick your head in the sand?

Eventually, her parents come to her rescue, but how long did it take?! Days? Weeks?! I can damn well guarantee you that had Alicia been my daughter, I would’ve taken her to the ER and CAMPED OUT in the waiting room if necessary until I got an answer!

I’m thrilled that she finally got a diagnosis and has gotten on treatment.

But I’m aghast that her strange behavior continued for so long before her family and friends became concerned enough to get her to a doctor. I’m just baffled. Maybe it’s because I don’t have all of the information from DailyMail’s article.

Now it’s your turn. Do you or your child have Wilson’s disease? How long did it take YOU to seek medical help?
