Remember this deadline if you have a alpha or beta thalassemia, or another significant form of thalassemia, and are seeking an advanced degree in the US or abroad that relates to the medical sciences community.

The Cooley’s Anemia Foundation is now accepting applications through October 21st of this year for a scholarship to go toward TWO awardees’ studies. The scholarship is called the 2017 CAF ApoPharma Distinguished Scholar Award.

According to the President of ApoPharma in 2014 Dr. Michael Spino, they have seen many thalassemia patients do great things over the years. ApoPharma believes that if patients are able to complete postgraduate education, their contributions to society would be limitless!

However, as with lots of rare disease conditions, financial difficulties arise that may preclude patients from going after a PhD, MD, etc. So of course, ApoPharma is excited to sponsor a scholarship that could provide thalassemia patients further education and mentorship.
