Pediatric Stroke Warriors are Mighty and Making a Difference

The Pediatric Stroke Warriors were formed in 2015 and have thus grown into the biggest childhood stroke nonprofit out of the Pacific Northwest Region. Their mission is to strengthen communities through family support, advocacy in education and distribution of anything pertaining to strokes in children
Now, Child Neurology Foundation has unveiled a brand new resource that was created for families by the Warriors themselves.

Most people can’t even fathom the idea of a child having a stroke. It’s a common misconception that strokes only happen to adults but they can happen to people of all ages. Hundreds of families each year learn this the hard way.

Because of this misconception, there isn’t enough information and resources on childhood strokes which is why families look to the internet. However, the internet may not always have the most reliable information.

That’s why the team behind the Pediatric Stroke Warriors are working diligently to create a resource among families and medical professionals that work with children who are prone to or have had strokes. This group consists of dedicated parents, professionals and medical advisory committees.

They call it the Pediatric Stroke Warriors Family Toolkit and it will provide direction on how to handle the difficult situation after a child has experienced a stroke. Among the bullet points are: What to expect during hospital recovery and therapy, resources and websites that pertain to Pediatric Stroke, a dictionary of medical terminology, personal accounts or words of wisdom from parents and survivors, and recognition and types of stroke in the pediatric population

If you would like to download the Toolkit, or become a Warrior of your own, you can by clicking here.
