Having dysautonomia is not just a challenge during the day at work, but also when it comes to exercising… which is of course a necessity when trying to manage POTS symptoms.
I found that if I exert too much or if I am moving in a weird direction, then I will feel lightheaded, my heart might palpatate and I get weaker. It’s also important to lift weights, which don’t typically bother me. It’s the cardio part that is the real challenge.
So after a ton of trial and error, here are the five ways I have had success doing cardio:
- Spinning or spin classes
- Stair stepper (the one that is like an escalator, actual stairs)
- If you live near the beach, walking or running on sand in barefeet
- Elliptical
- Treadmill walking on incline
