Can Nutrition Cure Sickle Cell Anemia? The Nigerian Government Thinks So

According to recent research, the Nigerian federal government believes nutrition is another way to approach treating and potentially curing Sickle Cell Anemia.

Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, Minister of Science and Technology, explained that the rest of the world is focused on using drugs to manage the disease. His ministry, on the other hand, is looking at another approach to the cure.

Dr. Onu is confident that his country can produce everything a patient needs in order to be cured of this disorder. This would mean that Nigeria wouldn’t need any imported products or drugs to help patients.

Dr. Onu stated that what a person eats will prevent him or her from having a sickle cell anemia crisis. Patients will not become dependent on drugs once they stick to eating proper nutritious foods.

Also, once a person eats healthy meals on a normal basis, it goes without saying, that the person becomes healthier. This would be especially true if Nigeria used its natural resources to create the meals.

He planned to present his findings to the world and the medical community at a Technology and Innovation Expo in April. Dr. Onu stated that the country’s forefathers were innovative, but he felt that in the past few centuries the country had fallen behind. It looks as if this is the time to show the rest of the world Nigeria’s innovative spirit.
