Who knew that dystonia and tennis go hand-in-hand?!
For twenty-year-old Josh, it’s a match made in heaven. He’s been fascinated with tennis his whole life and refused to let dystonia get in the way of pursuing his passion. Josh was recently diagnosed with dystonia, caused by a mutation in his DYT1 gene. For now, his feet and legs are affected by it and he’ll be starting treatment in the upcoming months.
But until then, what does he do?
Play tennis.
With dystonia affecting his feet and legs?
Yep!
With the help of specialized shoes, coaches, and foot braces, Josh moves around the court like a pro! His confidence and determination are an inspiration– both on and off the court to his family, friends, and even strangers.
Josh is proof that when life serves you something unexpected, you just gotta keep on swinging!
