Every now and then, you come across important information that really screams for your attention and you’ve just gotta share it. Here’s the scoop!
If your loved one has been diagnosed with tyrosinemia, you’ve got to check out what the University of Washington is up to!
They’ve got a clinic that specializes in biochemical genetics and they’re all over tyrosinemia, a rare genetic disease that can be life-threatening if not treated early after birth! Ta da!
Once a week, families meet with what looks to me like a tyrosinemia “dream team,” which includes a:
- pediatrician
- social worker
- genetics counselor
- nutritionist
Plus, the clinic also can make arrangements so that parents can talk with other parents of kids who have been diagnosed with tyrosinemia.
Why? Because there’s nothing like talking to someone else who knows what you’re going through.
If you are a parent of a child who’s been diagnosed with tyrosinemia, have you ever taken your child to this clinic?
I’d love to hear from you–especially if you’ve talked with other parents.
Hopefully, you found the clinic helpful. Please pass your experiences along to others!
