In a time where we get bombarded by all sorts of troubling news — it’s so soul-refreshing to see these truly inspirational moments go viral.
A video of limb different, 14-year-old Tim making a 20-inch box jump at a training camp went viral over the weekend.
The camp where this happened is the NubAbility Athletics Foundation — which “exists to encourage, inspire, instruct limb different youth (congenital or traumatic amputees) by getting them out of the stands, off the bench and into mainstream sports.”
You can tell this was a moment-in-the-making, as Tim groans in frustration when he misses the first few times. One of the trainers gave him that piece of tough-love-motivation, exclaiming, “all the people that told you you can’t, right here, jump on them now!”
So it’s no wonder Tim got so emotional; the power of the moment hitting him at last.
Tim has been attending NubAbility for years and has participated in several sports. His interest in strength training began last year, leading Tim to spend more time during camp at the gym.
And according to TMZ, the entire video was much longer, around five minutes (the clip that went viral on Twitter is 37 seconds long) , because Tim kept wanting to walk away.
Tim is not unlike many in the rare disease community. Maybe it’s losing or not having the use of a body function; maybe it’s pain, lack of energy, congitive or psychosomatic symptom. Whatever the obstacles may be, Tim is proof that goal-setting, persistence, and hard work can be key to reaching goals.
We hope to see more of your achievements, Tim!
