The Pitt Hopkins Family Conference & Scientific Symposium is Coming June 2022

The Pitt Hopkins Family Conference & Scientific Symposium (PHRF Conference) will be held June 23rd through June 25th, 2022 in Chicago to raise awareness and share research updates for Pitt Hopkins syndrome. The event will be held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Chicago O’Hare Rosemont.

This conference is put on by the Pitt Hopkins Research Foundation and will bring together over 200 patients, families, caregivers, researchers, and others who care about those with Pitt Hopkins syndrome.

The event will highlight updates on clinical trials, current and future research plans, and will provide an opportunity for families to connect with one another. It is so meaningful for patients and caregivers to meet others who understand exactly the trials and tribulations which come with living life with this condition.

Below is a breakdown of some of the conference highlights each day.

June 23

On the first day of the conference, there will be a scientific symposium. This symposium will provide all of the latest research updates on this syndrome internationally. It will discuss the latest clinical trials, gene therapy research, protein replacement research, and more.

This part of the conference will be more technical and is not meant for children. Although parents are welcome to attend, scientists will also be providing a lay talk for families the next day.

Following the symposium, there will be a welcome reception hosted by the Pitt Hopkins Research Foundation. This reception and dinner will provide an open space for families to meet and greet with one another.

June 24

Friday will begin with a research update on symptomatic research, clinical trials, and of course, gene therapy. This talk will be given in lay terms and is meant for parents.

Next, there will be a variety of presentations for parents. The details of these presentations have not yet been released, but stay tuned to hear more!

In the evening, guests will have an opportunity to explore Chicago! You can walk in the nearby park, enjoy local food, check out a bowling alley, or even go indoor sky diving!

June 25

On the last day, there will be a variety of AAC and education talks. These talks will be focused on literacy, communication, IEPs, sensory processing, and more.
