Aplastic Anemia: A Video Review

Aplastic anemia is both a bone and a blood disease. A person with this condition has bone marrow that no longer makes red blood cells, white blood cells, or platelets. As a result, they have a compromised immune system, and are subject to severe bleeding episodes.

The only chance for a cure is a bone marrow transplant, but while they are waiting for a donor match, patients receive blood transfusions, and are commonly treated with immunosuppressant drugs.
