ICYMI: Family Starts GoFundMe To Raise Money For Young Mom

Living with the rare condition subglottic stenosis is never easy, especially when you’re trying to keep up with your little boy. Caledon Enterprise reported that Emily Rogers does just that. She keeps up and she’s now fighting to raise significant funds to undergo a hopefully one-time surgery that could correct her difficulty breathing altogether.

Subglottic stenosis is a rare disease that causes the tracheal airways to close due to a buildup of tissue. This then makes it extremely difficult for one to breathe, and can be life threatening if not properly treated. For now, Emily has continued to do minor surgeries in Canada consistently to keep her moving along, yet all the positive effects are short lived from those surgeries. She needs something more permanent.

Thankfully, there is a surgery called Maddern and the REACHER that would answer her problems. It’s only performed by two doctors in the world, and just one specialist in the United States. It’s a surgery that is known to be successful and all 21 patients who’ve undergone the procedure in the passed have found permanent success. The only concern is that the surgery costs about $80,000, something the Roger family can’t afford. Yet, that won’t stop them from getting Emily what she needs.
Recently, her family set up a GoFundMe page with hopes to raise the entire $80,000. So far they’ve done a great job having acquired nearly $50,000. While that is a great accomplishment, they still have a ways to go. They are holding an event January 27th in Mississauga to hopefully raise the last bit they need. They are seeking donations from local businesses who can provide gifts and/or gift cards to be raffled off to those that attend. Anyone who attends will be asked to purchase a $10 ticket which provides them with food, drinks, games and raffle opportunity!

Sounds like the Rogers family is doing exactly what they need to do, and more, to raise the funds to help keep Emily happily running alongside her little baby boy and husband.
