This Anti-Inflammatory Shake Tastes Like Ice Cream

Years before I was diagnosed with late-stage chronic Lyme disease, I had been falsely diagnosed with a chest disease, chronically swollen lymph nodes, IBS and mild ADD with fatigue. With all of these wrong diagnoses and weird treatments that didn’t work, I decided to address the only thing I could control: my diet.

I cut out dairy, gluten and refined sugars.

I know that sounds really difficult, but it’s not as hard as you think when you make your own shakes. The only appliance you need is a blender! My favorite anti-inflammatory shake recipe tastes like a chocolatey-almondy dream. The recipe is below:

  • One half frozen banana (Cut up a ripe banana into fourths and freeze in ziplock bag)
  • 1/4 c. roasted almonds (I buy them raw and roast them myself)
  • 1 T. raw caocao powder or nibs
  • 3 T. instant oatmeal
  • 1 T. chia seeds
  • 1/4 t. cinnamon
  • Enough coconut milk (SO Delicious brand) to cover ingredients
  • Blend until smoothe

Of course, this is just the base. You can play with it as needed, like adding whey or pea protein, more almonds, less caocao or get creative and use frozen avocados instead of bananas.

Regardless of your health goals, this anti-inflammatory shake is perfect whether you are trying to gain weight (add protein), have difficulty absorbing nutrients or with digestion, or you need something new to add to your anti-inflammatory, dairy-free, gluten-free, refined sugar-free diet!
