NOMID stands for Neonatal Onset Multisystem Inflammatory Disease.
So is CINCA really the same thing as NOMID? According to Medpage Today, it is!
Both names highlight the pediatric population and communicate the same condition and symptoms. CINCA is most used within in Europe while NOMID is the term used most outside of Europe. CINCA/NOMID belongs to a family of conditions known as Cryopyrin-Associated Periodic Syndromes, or CAPS. A mutation in the NLRP-3 gene is what causes CAPS. Read more at the links below!
