Researchers at UCSF are searching for volunteers to participate in a clinical trial studying the effects of Deep Brain Stimulation on isolated/primary Dystonia.
To participate you must meet the following requirements
1.) Have been diagnosed with isolated dystonia (primary dystonia)
2.) Have the clinical indications for DBS surgery (dystonia with significant disability that is not adequately relieved by medications or injections of botulinum toxin)
3.) Be willing to have DBS surgery
4.) Be willing to have multiple follow up visits at UCSF
5.) Not have had DBS prior to entry into the study, or any other brain surgery
6.) Be between the ages of 21 and 75
