Amyloidosis is a group of about 15 rare, progressive, and incurable diseases of the metabolism.

Amyloidosis are waxy deposits of proteins, created by malfunctioning bone marrow, that are folded incorrectly into bundles or meshwork. In amyloidosis, these deposits accumulate abnormally in one or more organ or body systems.

Researchers estimate that amyloidosis occurs in about eight in 1,000,000 people, and often carries with it a pretty dismal prognosis.

That’s why raising funds for research is just so important.
