This is the Secret to Raising Healthy Kids with FH

We all know that receiving a rare disease diagnosis brings along a whole wave of emotions. Relief, anger and fear are just a few. It’s very common for people to feel completely overwhelmed.

That’s why, for people diagnosed with familial hypercholesterolemia (FH), this booklet is a life-saver.

Whether you’re the one with familial hypercholesterolemia, or it’s your child, spouse, or friend, this booklet breaks down FH in a way everyone can understand.

It’s split up into 4 easy sections:

  1. Familial Hypercholesterolemia
  2. Treatment
  3. Lipoproteins and Cardiovascular Disease
  4. Other Questions

It’s even illustrated to help explain some of the more confusing aspects of familial hypercholesterolemia–like how treatments work. Each section doesn’t just tell you about FH, it offers facts, statistics, and explanations, too. On top of that, it’s fun to read!

Yeah, that’s right. I said fun.

I’m a huge researcher, and I really believe this booklet is a good first step in wrapping your head around FH. It’s also helpful to give to family members to explain how FH might affect them.

For example, if you have a meat and potatoes loving spouse, giving them this information might help them come around to adding more veggies and low fat foods into BOTH of your diets.

Diet is a very important component of treating FH.

Since your body can’t remove cholesterol properly, reducing the amount of fat and cholesterol in your diet makes a significant impact. As does adding in more foods that will help the body’s natural processes for eliminating fats.

This is especially important if you have children. If you have familial hypercholesterolemia, there’s a chance your child is at risk for it, or other cholesterol and cardiovascular problems. And if it’s your child who has FH, teaching them how to eat well for their condition is crucial. And it’s easier for them if everyone around them is doing it too.

Life-long habits start in childhood, and when you have FH, diet is not something you want to play around with. Or leave up to fate.
