Tourette Syndrome Support in Canada

Canadian, Barb Charboneau, felt something was wrong with her around the age of 11.

Years later, she was diagnosed with Tourette syndrome. Then it took many more years for her to find the right medicines to help her manage symptoms. Once she did, it was life changing for her and she had a better quality of life. Now, she only has an occasional tic.

Barb states that most people only know of the syndrome as the condition where people swear for no reason. She wants others to know that that symptom only occurs in a small amount of people living with the condition.

Barb’s experience with Tourette has contributed to her joining an organization called Tourette Canada. The organization has been serving those with the condition–and their families and supporters–for 40 years. Barb joined because she wants others to recognize their abilities and worth despite the syndrome and its symptoms. As an affiliate at Tourette Canada, she simply wants to assist others with whatever challenges they may face. She can provide those living with Tourette with referrals so people can find the right treatment for them. Additionally, she wants to help others learn about the disease.

Barb is excited to let people know that she is available to talk with them and that there is support. She has never let the disease stop her from living life!
