Boy with SMA is the True Inspiration for This Football Team

12-year-old Jack Bolton has had spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) since he was born.

He is confined to his wheelchair because of SMA, which causes his muscles to weaken as he gets older. Yet, with the help of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, his favorite football team, the Carolina Panthers, were able to invite Jack to spend one day as their assistant coach.

This was an amazing opportunity for both the players and Jack back in 2013. Since their connection, the team has made it an essential for them to stay in contact with Jack.

He has even sent them a poster saying “Coach Jack Says I’m Watching You.”

The team uses this poster as a motivation tool to win games for Jack.

A few years later, Kyle Love, a defensive tackle on the Carolina Panthers team, had a surprise for Coach Jack. He gave two extra tickets so Jack could see their 2016 playoff game where they played the Arizona Cardinals. Kyle didn’t have to think twice about who to invite with his spare tickets. Kyle was not on the team when Jack coached, but he looks at Jack’s poster whenever he enters the locker room.

I bet Jack will continue to inspire the Panthers each year. Maybe 2018 will be their year to win the Superbowl!
