We came across a 2016 CBS story about Harlow, a Golden Retriever service dog on social media that had already reached over 226K Likes on Facebook.
This celebrity dog shows unconditional love and support toward her owner suffering from postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). POTS is a form of dysautonomia that can cause syncope, extreme fatigue, digestion problems and more. To learn about POTS, click here.
Unfortunately, Blake is no exception to the symptoms of this condition, and experiences migraines, bouts of narcolepsy, dizziness and frequent fainting spells. She feels lucky to have Harlow around. According to Jacquie’s account to CBS,
“Without her, I would be very limited in what I could do with my life… Leaving the house by myself would be out of the question, let alone [pursuing] a college education and eventually my dream career (occupational therapist).”
Harlow has also been trained to help her owner live a little easier with POTS. She does the shopping, dishes, laundry and even accompanies her chronically ill owner on trips to the clinic.
