Meet Ruby, a beautiful 3 year old who was diagnosed with hypomyelination with atrophy of basal ganglia and cerebellum, or H-ABC, shortly after her birth.
H-ABC is a type of leukodystrophy that affects certain parts of the brain. The leukodystrophies make up a group of rare genetic disorders that affect the central nervous system by disrupting the growth or maintenance of the myelin sheath, which insulates nerve cells.
Symptoms tied to H-ABC usually begin in infancy or early childhood and vary in severity; they include movement difficulties and delay in mental development or learning problems.

Ruby’s family hasn’t let her diagnosis stop her from being the best young lady she can be. They even entered her in a beauty pageant where she won the entire category for 2-year-olds. In fact, she holds the title for “Tiny Toddler Miss Pennsylvania.”
