The symptoms of the disease are difficult to detect and variant, making it challenging for even the best doctors to diagnose.

So, what are the non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease? Doctors are beginning to look underneath the surface or Parkinson’s disease, as many patients experience “Dopamine- non-responsible symptoms.” These symptoms are common, and could be easily misleading. Nevertheless, the impact of these symptoms affecting patients living with Parkinson’s is a major concern for doctors.

Other symptoms can cause unexplained pain, loss of smell, and drooling.  

Remember, Parkinson’s disease is rare.

While many people can experience similar symptoms, these symptoms do not contribute to Parkinson’s. In fact, there are some medical conditions that mimic the disease, but does not cause lasting side effects. Only a specialist or an experienced doctor who is knowledgeable of Parkinson’s disease can make a true diagnosis. After a careful evaluation and examination of medical facts and family history, a doctor is better able to make a clear determination and real diagnosis.
