This is It! Myasthenia Gravis Helpful Resources Depot

Have you found a comprehensive resource for living with myasthenia gravis (MG)? This is the website you need.

From the first click, the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA) webpage is impressive: organized design, user-friendly format, and current links that actually work. Bravo!

And then, I read the WELCOME page:

The Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA) is the only national volunteer health agency in the United States dedicated solely to the fight against myasthenia gravis. MGFA serves patients, their families, and caregivers.

A national volunteer health agency? HOMERUN!

Such a thorough and useful resource bank for anyone living with or caring for those with myasthenia gravis.

The Gateway

One of the sections that caught my attention is the PARENT PORTAL.

Although the entire portal takes to heart the needs and desires for parents and their children, it’s the sidebar column, Living with MG, that really caught my attention:

  • The Physician Referral List: An alphabetized list of doctors organized by states
  • Informational Materials: A huge list of brochures and the like – all formatted in PDF for easy download
  • Quality of Life: A brief 15 question survey that helps individuals living with MG assess different aspects of their life
  • Drugs to Avoid: Offering the careful thoughts when considering medications
  • Patient Resources: Lists of free clinics and support groups
  • MGFA Webinar Series: A sequence of presentations, lectures, workshops, and seminars (my favorite one was The Role of Exercise in Taking Control of Your MG)
  • Podcast Educational Series: Great topics to be explored – The Young Adult Perspective, Living Active and Healthy Lives, and MG & Pregnancy
  • Publications: Complete archive of the Foundation Focus Newsletter
