Cystic Fibrosis Changed Their Lives. They’ve Changed A Community.

This community has come together in a big way to support a local family.

Eric Frisbee and his wife, Julie, have two daughters that are living with cystic fibrosis. They wanted to educate their community about the disease, and also fund raise for research.

Together, they have raised $340,000 over the last 10 years for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (or the CFF)!

Every year The Great Strides Walk has a great response of people showing their support. Last year, 300 people participated.

Julie has made it her mission to educate the community about their family’s disease. She has done presentations at the school to show the community what a day in the life of her family is like.

Her daughters each have an hour long treatment in both the morning and evening, but Julie happily shares how her daughters have improved with treatment and a close relationship with the CFF.

The students have also come together in a big way to show their support as well. St. Ann School and Bourroughs High school have been fund raising for Cystic Fibrosis since 2011.

In 2011, Bourroughs raised a grand for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and since they started the campaign in 2007, the schools have raised $29,000!

Buurroughs High School has become very involved due to cystic fibrosis hitting home in 2013, when a former teacher’s baby boy was diagnosed. She was very open about her son, his treatments, and all of the emotions involved. The high school is currently raising money for this year’s walk.

Ridgecrest Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides Walk is Saturday, Dec. 3rd at Cerro Coso Community College track.

Registration will begin at 9:30 AM.

There will be refreshments for the participants that include cookies, coffee, cocoa, and water. 100% of proceeds will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation so be sure to come out and support a good cause!
