She Did What? Pulmonary Fibrosis Patient Spreads Hope

’Tis the season to indulge in the spirit of giving.

And that’s Kim Fredrickson’s exact intention.

Kim is an author, blogger, and marriage & family therapist who was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in May 2014, as a rare complication from chemotherapy and radiation for breast cancer.

She is the author of Give Yourself a Break: Turning Your Inner Critic into a Compassionate Friend.

Kim knows one of the only ways to bring hope into today’s culture is to share it—and that’s exact what she does.

Giving hope to others who are living with pulmonary fibrosis and encouraging people to advocate for themselves with kindness and compassion, just as they would for a good friend.

She believes it makes this difficult journey a little easier.

A journey that includes a host of symptoms like:

  • Shortness of breath, particularly during exercise
  • Dry, hacking cough
  • Fast, shallow breathing
  • Gradual unintended weight loss
  • Tiredness
  • Aching joints and muscles

Share the Joy

Giving is easy.

There’s so much that you can give.

  • You can give your time.
  • You can give your warmth and friendship.
  • You can give a listening ear or a shoulder to lean on.

In Kim’s blog, 5 Tips to Keep You Going on This PF Journey, she gives hope and encouragement. A message we could all learn from.

Whatever you decide to give, know that a pure spirit and a generous heart can be your own path to real happiness. You’ll contribute to making the world a nicer place (we could always use some magical cheer).

And you may brighten your own soul too.

Perpetuating the cycle of giving makes the world a better, more humane place to live in.

Be a good role-model for people around you.

Consider Kim’s genuine purposes when she says,

“Sometimes, it is hard to keep going when you have pulmonary fibrosis. I’m hoping it [the blog] is an encouragement to you.”

Giving is winning! Get to it!
