We all know the saying: April showers bring May flowers.
But did you know that April sharing brings May caring?
May is Vasculitis Awareness Month, and the Vasculitis Foundation has been hard at work getting the word out to the vasculitis community around the world!
The goal of Vasculitis Awareness Month is not only to make people aware of the disease, but also to educate them on what treatments are available, what treatments might be in the future, and what new discoveries researchers have made in understanding this complex disease.
Vasculitis is the umbrella term for a variety of conditions, like Behcet’s disease and Churg-Strauss syndrome. The word itself means that blood vessels in the body (including veins, arteries, or capillaries) become inflamed. And with vasculitis conditions, the body’s immune system starts mistakenly attacking these blood vessels.
The Vasculitis Foundation is a tremendous resource to learn more about these conditions, and more importantly, about how to live with them.
And if you’re interested in participating in any of the exciting events they have lined up in May, you can check them out here.
