My Lyme Disease Playlist

I had a sneaking suspicion that I was sick before any doctors diagnosed me with chronic, late-stage Lyme disease.

The following playlist pretty much spells out my journey from feeling sick, getting the typical doctor response of “We didn’t find anything wrong with you”, getting misdiagnosed, then getting a proper diagnosis, going through treatment and subsequent recovery.

1. Unwell- Matchbox 20

That entire chorus. So on point.

2. Flagpole Sitta- Harvey Danger

Obviously the chorus and that last bit about being put into the hospital for nerves. It’s a little over-exaggerated but I definitely relate to being told my symptoms are “stress-related” and then being misdiagnosed with random chest diseases and chronic-swollen lymph nodes (is that even a thing?).

3. You Know How I Do- Taking Back Sunday

Specifically, “So sick, so sick of being tired, and oh so tired of being sick.” I felt that way so much through high school and even more so through treatment. It’s easy to get discouraged on occasion, but whenever I get that way, I just keep thinking that there is hope for relief in the future.

4. I Wanna Get Better- Bleachers

Because… I wanna get better.

5. Recovery- Frank Turner

“It’s a long road out to recovery from here, it’s a long way back to the light” (i.e. patience is key!).
