According to a recent article in The Manila Times, Jade Biosciences has begun dosing participants in a Phase 2 clinical study, known as JUNIPER, evaluating its investigational therapy JADE101 for immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN), a chronic autoimmune kidney disease that can progress to renal failure over time.
JADE101 is engineered to selectively inhibit A Proliferation-Inducing Ligand (APRIL), a protein implicated in abnormal IgA antibody production that drives disease pathology in IgAN. The therapy is designed with high binding strength to enhance potency and durability, with the goal of producing sustained reductions in pathogenic IgA while supporting an infrequent, patient-friendly dosing schedule.
The open-label JUNIPER study plans to enroll approximately 30 patients with IgAN. Researchers will assess safety and tolerability alongside measures of efficacy, including changes in proteinuria (evaluated by urine protein-to-creatinine ratio), kidney function (estimated glomerular filtration rate), and improvements in hematuria.
According to company leadership, preclinical findings indicate that JADE101 may provide prolonged biological activity, potentially allowing dosing intervals of up to eight weeks via subcutaneous administration.
Interim results from the trial are anticipated in 2027, which will help determine the therapy’s clinical potential in slowing or modifying disease progression in patients with IgAN.
