Superheroes Totally Make this Sick Little Boy’s Day

Grab your mask and cape because superheroes are keeping the hope alive for Jonah Aregood, a nine-year-old Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID) patient.

Hometownstations.com reports a local comic book store in Lima, OH is fighting the crime of sadness among pediatric patients by sending neighborhood super heroes to visit pediatric patients under their new Heroes of Hope initiative.

Jonah must have sent a signal because they came to save the day.

Jonah battles CVID, a disease that can be devastating for a family when a child is affected. With this disorder, people cannot create the needed antibodies to fight infections.

For this reason, sixteen specialists work with Jonah to make sure he receives constant treatment. And unfortunately, CVID creates a wall between him and other patients since his weakened immune system puts him in greater risk of getting sick.

That’s why the superheroes just had to come to him!

“We’re so glad that we were able to meet with him individually, because there are kids that can’t be around other children,” said Mark Bowker, the owner of Alter Ego Comics.

Like the superheroes, Jonah wears a mask to protect him from infectious air, “a disguise that superheroes say is reserved for their bravest warriors.”
