The Oley Foundation: A Lifeline of Support

The Oley Foundation is a lifeline of support for those dependent on home IV nutrition (HPN) or tube feeding (HEN).

There are many causes for the inability to adequately nourish one’s self through normal oral feeding. Some of these are present from birth, some are acquired; they span a number of physical systems—from the inability to swallow, to the inability to adequately absorb nutrition.

Living with these conditions can present an array of challenges, and heaped upon this is the need to manage complex hardware and medical supplies, and to avoid complications such as infection.

No matter the cause—Oley can help. Founded in 1983, the foundation is a source of support, for patients and their families as well as health professionals.

“Independent NIH-funded research shows that contact with the Oley Foundation:

  • lowers the incidence of catheter-related sepsis1
  • reduces reactive depression1
  • significantly improves quality of life1
  • gives members the tools and confidence they need to manage their therapy2
  • enables members to achieve normalcy in their lives.” 2
