Remember the Parkinson’s disease Ice Bucket Challenge mania that spread across the globe? Did you find yourself overflowing with ideas about equally awesome challenges or ways to raise awareness and funds for blood cancers such as the myelodysplastic syndromes?
You CAN Make a Difference!
This is your month to POUR IT ON! September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month. The Ice Bucket Challenge resulted in amazingly positive results. Not only did it raise a bunch o’monies and resulted in great research, it educated the public about the disease.
Myelodysplastic syndromes, a group of cancers in which immature blood cells in the bone marrow do not mature or become healthy blood cells, deserves that level of exposure, too!
The MPN Research Foundation, an non-profit organization founded by and for blood cancer patients, is the driving force behind the September awareness campaign. Why not contact them with your fabulous fundraising idea?
For more resources and information check out the MDS Foundation here!
In the meantime, why not post something about blood cancer every day from now until the end of September on your favorite social media sites?
Do you have a great idea to raise awareness about myelodysplastic syndromes? Share it with the Patient Worthy Community!
