Inspiration is important because it provides us with a glimpse of the fact that we can be great.
But inspiration is not what fuels change, inspiration is fleeting. It’s what we do afterward the inspiration that ignites change.
When we actively seek the knowledge necessary to make the change that makes our reality match our moment of inspiration, change becomes real.
So, if you’re looking for a little chutzpah to change, then check out the journey of A.J Battaglia, a 47-year-old woman and mother of three, who lives with Regional Sympathetic Disorder or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (RSD/CRPS).
A.J shares her wise, focused philosophy of living with RSD/CRPS:
“One day at a time, one step at a time, I am an RSD fighter. I am RSD strong and with love and healing my journey continues on.”
One of the most critical aspects of creating a change in mentality is using our power of focus to create a reality that offers opportunities for change.
Reality is not so much about circumstances; it’s about focus.
Focus on:
- Opportunities not obstacles
- Growth potential not failure
- Positive not negative
Sounds easy enough. Right?
When we focus in these directions, we will find avenues for change where we previously saw road blocks.
But in order to change, we must really want to change.
We tend to use the words “like” and “want” interchangeably. In reality, there is a big difference between wanting and liking. “Like” is a preference while “want” is one of the most powerful things in the world.
So, if we would only “like” to change we probably won’t.
We need to honestly “want” to change. Change happens gradually, one day at a time (just like A.J’s thoughts). We may think that we haven’t changed so much. But over time, it happens.
Focus on today.
Grow today.
Change today.
Only look at yesterday if it was inspiring. Deal with tomorrow, tomorrow.
Today is here, now.
You feeling it? Ready. Set. Go.
