Where: Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina

Why: Myositis is muscle inflammation/swelling. Polymyositis usually causes muscle weakness around the trunk of the body. Dermatomyositis causes muscle weakness, plus a skin rash. There is no known cause or cure for myositis. There are some treatments aimed at improving symptoms, though they are not effective for every patient. Patients with myositis have difficulties with even the most common tasks, so their everyday life can be challenging without the necessary support. To learn more about myositis, click here.
