New App Developed for Lung Transplant Recovery Patients

Back in February, we covered the $1,000,000 IPF Catalyst Challenge.
Announced in April, innovators from around the world submitted meaningful solutions to improve the quality of life of those living with IPF. The prize was one million dollars to help fund their proposals.
One of those winners, patientMpower, announced last the release of its new platform, patientMpower for Lung Transplant, as a result!
The Lung Transplant platform, thanks to help from lung transplant specialists, provides a solution tailored to the needs of those who have received a lung transplant.
patientMpower’s new platform enables patients to monitor everything relating to their lung health after a transplant – and share this information with their healthcare team in real time!

Specifically, patientMpower uses integrated monitors to track lung function and oxygen saturation, allowing patients to track and share their health data including temperature, medication use, and breathlessness. It also enables patients to set medication reminders and receive air quality and weather alerts.

“It was a natural progression for us to develop a platform for Lung Transplantation based on our work in pulmonary fibrosis, as some PF patients will receive a lung transplant as their disease progresses,” said Dr. Colin Edwards, Chief Scientific Officer at patientMpower.“Our new platform enables people who have received a lung transplant to be tracked by their expert healthcare team remotely in real time, using integrated monitors, offering reassurance and convenience.”
It’s incredible how this great tech boom is now trickling into healthcare space! I mean it makes sense -there’s an app for everything!

patientMpower for Lung Transplant is available for free download now in the Google Play store for android and the Apple App store for all iOS devices (iPhone, iPad).
