A weakened immune system doesn’t have to stop the fun, that’s for sure.
The Immune Deficiency Foundation will hold two Teen Escapes this summer— an awesome weekend away for teens living with primary immunodeficiency diseases (PI), like common variable immune deficiency (CVID) and cryopyrin-associated periodic syndromes (CAPS) conditions.
The purpose of the initiative is to help teenagers living with these difficult conditions to
“develop coping skills, promote and nurture friendships, and provide educational guidance.”
The IDF sponsored programs’ goal is to provide a fun atmosphere to help your child learn how to handle their disease. Don’t worry parents, you are invited to.
Living with and caring for someone living with an immunodeficiency is never easy. But the IDF hopes it can at least become manageable.
So here are the 5 reasons why you need to grab your teenager and be on your way to a teen escape program in your area!
1. Connect with Others
Teen Escapes allow both kids and parents to connect to others dealing with the similar challenges immunodeficiency disorders bring.
2. Get Away from the Norm
Sometimes the house and crazy schedule between a teenage and their parent(s) can lead to crazy stress. Try packing up and leaving the insanity behind to share unforgettable memories, while learning from amazing people within the IDF community.
3. Learn
The IDF Teen Escapes not only gives teens the opportunity to learn from one another, but also from medical and life experts who can share knowledge about learning to cope with PI into adulthood.
4. Raise Awareness
Each time a teenager goes to a Teen Escape event, they become one more person who can share more facts about PI to others back home. Whether its a friend, family member, or even the school nurse, invaluable information is shared throughout the weekend and can go a long way to raising awareness with each kid.
5. Finally. HAVE A BLAST!
