On June 23, 201, a little boy named Jackson was born. He weighed in at a healthy seven pounds, three ounces, and was 20.5 inches long, and his parents were overjoyed.
There was a slight scare during the first day when nurses couldn’t get an accurate oxygen reading, but that was soon resolved, and Jackson went home to begin his happy life.
Along the way, however, he began to have strange symptoms and during a check-up, the doctor thought he detected a slight heart murmur.
Ultimately, Jackson was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension, or PH, which is a type of high blood pressure that affects the arteries in the lungs.
As a result, the right side of Jackson’s heart was enlarged.
Despite his condition, Jackson has never lost his smile. His mother stresses early detection of PH is the key to successful treatment.
