How to Go to College With Hemophilia

Wanna know one GOOD thing about having a chronic illness like hemophilia?

It can help you get a scholarship that might just change your life!

When you have a chronic illness, life seems to revolve around:

  • doctor’s appointments
  • medication schedules, like infusions
  • and “things I can’t do because of I have a rare disease.”

So when someone offers you a helping hand to chase your dream…man, you take it! Many young people dream of going to college. Thankfully, a number of companies and associations have recognized this–especially in the rare disease community.

One such scholarship is sponsored by the NuFactor Specialty Pharmacy. It’s in honor of a little boy with hemophilia who was tragically murdered at the age of 5.

However, the Eric Dostie Memorial College Scholarship recently announced its lucky 2016 recipients and will begin accepting applications for the 2017 academic year on November 1.

So get out your most inspiring pens, pencils, audio recorders, laptops, tablets, or whatevers and get cracking! Think about how you’ll use your dream degree to make the world and humans (including yourself) better. Write an essay full of your hopes and dreams for the future, your current academic and volunteer achievements, and how you’ve overcome obstacles in the past.

You’ll find additional information about the $1000 scholarship here.
