Butler Basketball Coach Signs 7-Year-Old With Rare Disease

January 5th was not only a great day for the Butler basketball community, it was a dream come true for the bulldog fan Seth Dennison, reported Fox 59. The 7-year-old boy suffering from a rare genetic disease signed his national letter of intent to officially become a part of the bulldog family. It was an uplifting day for the basketball team, Seth’s family and everyone else who was able to attend the conference.

Seth, nicknamed Sethy boy, was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder that involves a deletion of his second chromosome. He was diagnosed when he was 1-years-old and struggles with autism. He’s constantly in and out of the hospital. His mother, Jenn Dennison, shared that it’s not a question whether his will liver shut down or not, it’s a matter of when. Jenn successfully set up a fundraising campaign as well as a Facebook page to bring awareness to their boy and share his story with the world. He had a tough 2017, closing out the year with a 19 day stretch at Riley Hospital for Children where he almost died.

Now, the family and Seth are looking to have a much better 2018 and it started off with Thad Matta and his Butler Bulldogs. Seth officially signed his letter allowing him full access to all games and practices that he’d like to attend and cheer on his bulldogs. It was an awesome event for this boy and the community alike.

Thad Matta works with “Friends of Jaclyn” for many years, an organization that aims to improve the quality of life for children suffering from disease and cancer. They pair them with sports teams to give them a family and awesome opportunity to have great fun. It will be a good way for Seth to stay positive and keep pushing forward on his journey. The Bulldogs plan to honor him during the halftime of an upcoming game.
