The doctor wasn’t listening to me. He didn’t care that I was suffering. “I’m so sorry, I thought we were doing the right thing,” my dad said, clearly dealing with a lot of guilt. It wasn’t easy hearing those words, especially considering I was only 18 at the time. At this point in my life, I had been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis for five years — and had just been told I had a very serious case of Lyme disease, too.
