According to Charcot-Marie-Tooth News, the EveryLife Foundation has began a scholarship fund to help rare disease patients in the United States. Living with a rare disease often brings challenges, many of which are financial. This fund is meant to help people achieve their goals despite these obstacles.
About the Scholarship
The first phase of this scholarship will last for five years and give out $1 million. 32 scholarships, each $5,000, will be given out for next spring for those pursuing higher education or training programs.
In order to apply, you need to be a U.S. resident who is at least 17 years old. Applicants should send a transcript of their grades, an essay describing what the scholarship would mean for them and their goals, and a verification of diagnosis. They will be chosen based on financial need, essay, leadership participation, academic performance, and more. You can apply here, and applications are due on August 28th.
Rare disease patients often face many challenges, whether that is obtaining the correct diagnosis, finding the right doctor, receiving the best treatment, or anything else. The EveryLife Foundation wants to help people achieve their goals, and they want to see people in the rare disease community as teachers, doctors, artists, or anything that they want to be. Having a rare disease should not limit one’s dreams.
