Celebrating National Family Caregivers Month

November is officially recognized as National Family Caregivers Month, a time dedicated to recognizing and celebrating caregivers. The entire month is full of recognizing the effort and needs of caregivers, who spend so much of their time making sure their loved one’s needs are met.

Rare disease caregivers often go unrecognized or unsupported due to the rarity of their loved one’s condition. People simply do not know enough about many rare diseases, leading to low awareness and fewer options for support. It’s important that we spread the love and recognition to all caregivers; they all need our support!

National Family Caregivers (NFC) Month

There are many ways to celebrate this special month, making it easy to get involved! You could raise awareness of the problems that caregivers face, or just increase support for caregivers overall. Celebrate their efforts, make sure they feel recognized and loved! Another way to support caregivers is to educate them on self-identification.

Caregiver Action Network

The Caregiver Action Network spearheads the theme of this month every year, and they lead the celebration along with it. They make it easy to spread the word about this special month, as they provide many resources. These include:

  • Media kit
  • Theme
  • Posters
  • Sample proclamations

If you’re a caregiver yourself, use #CaregiverAnd to share the other integral parts of who you are! Show the world your passions, your hobbies, and the other things that make you special.

Make sure to spread support and love to all family caregivers this month and in all of the following months!
