For Man with Acromegaly, Big Record, Big Problems

You know what they say about a guy with big feet…

…he’s also got a BIG dictionary, ya know, since he’s probably had to research acromegaly.

Okay, maybe they don’t say that about ALL guys with big feet, but it might be said for Jeison Rodriguez, the 7′ 3″ Venezuelan with the world’s largest feet. When the Guinness Book of World Records stopped by, Rodriguez had a 15.79″ right foot and a 15.5″ left foot. His shoes are a size 26 US.

Rodriquez was diagnosed with acromegaly when he was 12 years old, and has required custom-made shoes since he was 14.

When he was a teenager, he could wear through a pair in only a few weeks.

“When I was a kid some of my classmates bullied me,” he told Fox News Latino. “Now I am quite popular and people ask me for pictures on the streets.”

But having the world’s largest feet isn’t all fun and games, as others with acromegaly probably know. Along with regular check-ups, Rodriquez also requires a special diet, and Dostinex–a medication he should be taking three times a week. Rodriguez, unfortunately, hasn’t been able to get access to his medication for over eight months.

“I have asked the government for help,” he said, “but they are still looking for it.”

James Ernest Cassady

James Ernest Cassady

Though "Ernest" is a family name that's been passed down for generations, James truly earned his middle moniker when, at the age of five, he told his mother that "laughing is stupid unless EVERYBODY is happy." Since then, the serious little bastard has been on a mission to highlight the world's shortcomings (and hopefully correct them). In addition to his volunteer work at hospitals and animal shelters, James also enjoys documentaries and the work of William Faulkner. He is originally from Oklahoma.
