Why This Mom’s Hemophilia Advice Will Inspire You

Every now and then, we all have bad days. But for a child living with a chronic illness like hemophilia—it’s just sooo unfair.

I read an inspiring article written by a married mother of two, whose son has hemophilia A. For me, the beauty in it lies with the struggles that that the mother faced. Although she mentions her husband, she keeps the article about her own personal struggles as well as their son’s.

She had an emotionally difficult time trying to raise their youngest son, who was diagnosed with hemophilia A as an infant. I can only imagine the number of times she doubted her/their decisions.

Or worried for countless hours if they were doing the right thing by letting their son figure things out on his own–with love and guidance of course.

I mean really, a “normal” little kid will fall and scrape his arms and legs numerous times each week. But that’s not okay for kids with hemophilia A. It’s a genetic rare blood disorder that prevents blood clots from forming. So, a simple cut could potentially be life-threatening.

I so admire any parent who’s valiantly trying to raise an emotionally (and hopefully physically) healthy and happy kid. And I’m so very humbled by parents of children with hemophilia A who’ve found a way to do this.
