African Heritage and Health Week Recipes for Your Rare Disease Diet

February is Black History month and for the first week, Old Ways, a site dedicated to promoting good health through cultural foods, is celebrating with health foods!

If you’re like me with a chronic illness, you have a lot of dietary restrictions. From being gluten-free (ish), dairy-free and sugar-free, eating can be a huge challenge. I’ve written about some of my favorite recipes before, but upon discovering this site, I have found a whole new world of health food possibilities!

Old Ways offers A Taste of African Heritage classes, with a few things in mind: diabetes and heart disease among other chronic illnesses don’t have to be who you are. For Old Ways, it’s more than just eating delicious meals from the African Heritage diet: It’s a new wellness program born out of foods that promoted the health of African American ancestors.

To learn more about these recipes and how they promote health, check out this article and the Old Ways website!
